PASTORAL PICNIC

Inspired by “Le déjeuner sur l’herbe («The Luncheon on the Grass») by Édouard Manet, our project embedded the visitor in an immersive landscape of a photographically implied forest clearing topped by a unifying textile canopy for the duration of a meal. The canopy unites the space and any gentle breeze will set the «leaves» swaying in gentle motion. 

To compliment the forest mood, a continous «park bench» snakes its way around the perimeter of the forest clearing, creating spaces with differing levels of intimacy.  Large wooden tables docked unto the benches create informal gatherings.
