SWISS PAVILION, La Biennale di Venezia 2018
Our competition entry for the Swiss pavilion for the Architecture Biennale 2018 in Venice titled “No Man Is an Island” Shared Resources, was one of the final five Finalists.
Switzerland is a small country with many resources. Land is limited. Our concept addresses the issues around Densification and cultural exchange. We propose “a pavilion On top of the pavilion”, and invite a guest country without its own pavilion in the Giardini to freely use the exhibition space in the existing pavilion, whilst Switzerland, the host country, occupies the temporary pavilion at the top.
The respective guest country appropriates the Pavilion as its own territory. The two pavilions become a resource for dialogue and cultural exchange.
