HOLZ PIXEL

The “wood pixel” combines craftsmanship, engineering, design and graphic symbolism in the trunk of a 120 year old Douglas tree.  The fanning trunk represents the diversity of faculties at the Bern University of Applied Sciences and illustrates the complexity of the material wood.

As a floating installation oscillating between density and lightness, the sculpture was installed in the hall of Hector Egger AG Langenthal. The “wood pixel” won silver in the category “Cartes Blanches” at Designers Saturday 2016.

Design: Charles O. Job & Andrea Grasser. Berne University of Applied Sciences.
